Running as a service only 50% cpu, not multicore

I followed the instructions on another thread about setting the agent to run as a service. That part worked get and it is running. The only problem is now it is running only at 50%. Before I set it as a service I used the cpu tool and set it to 100% from 60%. The tool doesn't seem to have any affect when the agent is running as a service.

Is there a way to set that cpu throttle up manual or any other ideas?

Thanks,
Cmonster

I think if you revert to the global environment variable, u might get 100% again. Look for posts with WCGRID_MAX_CPU to be set in the system control panel, advanced, environment variables, system variables and add it there with whatever pleases your fancy.

U need to delete the World Community Grid key from the registry as it overrides the environment var value

Unless, UD only uses one thread on a dual core..... then 100% of one, reads out as 50% in the taskmanager.

For twice as much thruput, convert to BOiNC... it uses both cores!

See my notes at my WCG page for how to adjust the throttle as a service.

Hello schepers,
You have a great site! I particularly appreciate your discussion of running WCG with Deep Freeze.

Do you have a processor with HyperThreading? If you do , and it's turned on, the OS will see it as 2 processors. Then you get only 50% of the work.
