Assigning Profile

Hi,

I've set up a "home" profile for some of my machines, where I set "run always=no", then I assigned that profile to those machines. But when Boinc starts, I get this:

23.01.2007 19:29:41|World Community Grid|URL: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID: 105881; location: ; project prefs: default
23.01.2007 19:29:41||General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 2007-01-23 00:17:56)
23.01.2007 19:29:41||General prefs: using your defaults
23.01.2007 19:29:41||Local control only allowed

So, is the profile assigned now? Because boinc always runs with 100%, from the settings I would have thought it only runs when idle>3mins...

Lars

Re: Assigning Profile

Assuming that the preferences / profiles do work in wcg. But may be there are two extra steps that need to be taken:

1) Boinc client needs to contact wcg server to see the new preferences and discover that it is now running under a new assigned profile. This happens on the next upload / download. Can also be forced by issuing a Project Update. Once this occurs, the wording will change. Something like this:

22/01/2007 8:48:49 PM||General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 2007-01-08 21:09:26)
22/01/2007 8:48:49 PM||General prefs: using separate prefs for home

2) In Boinc manager, under the activity menu: I think "run based on preferences" need to be the one highlighted, and not "run always".

Re: Assigning Profile

TauTau,

According to the information I have in the database and our logs the following events occurred:

1) You updated your preferences to not run when the user is active
2) The computer below contacted the server and got the lastest preferences
3) Your preferences for which venue is associated with that computer was updated.

Since step 3 occurred after step 2 - your local client still thinks that it should use the 'Default' profile.

Please do an 'update' for World Community Grid from the projects tab and your local client should then be associated with the 'home' venue.
