I've heard a few conflicting reports.
The upcoming BOINC version is definitely getting some thorough Vista testing. |

I'm putting together a new computer in the next day or two. I have all the parts here now (including Vista Ultimate) except the hard drive that I want to use and it is on the way. For now it will have a P4 630 CPU. Will get a C2D later on. Other parts are as follows: Intel 965 mobo, 2 X 1GB of DDR2 PC2-5300. Have a spare 40GB HDD that I can use to get running now. Have a 320GB HDD ordered.
----------------------------------------If it will help I could use this computer as a guinea pig for testing the upcoming BOINC version on Vista. |

Knock yourself out.... 5.8.5 was put on line for trial run..... it got a spiffier look like a progress bar on each work unit and sorting of any column one desires and some grand additions on the 'Advanced' menu that will make the 'override' tweaking a joy. Testers do go the extra mile to find out ;>)

Sekerob, the advanced preferences were included in error. The feature won't be in the 5.8 release.
Still, it's nice to have a preview of the next iteration. |

Yep, saw a note on BOINC dev from Jord...... he said it - the advanced preferences use - would crash BOINC 99% of the time..... as Murphy would contradict that, I'm in the other 1%. Works fine.

I've been using Boinc 5.4.9 on a laptop since Dec 5 with build 5744 of Vista without trouble. I had a desktop running a post-RC1 and then RC2 Vista for several months without trouble, but the novelty wore off so I went back to XP on that because of issues unrelated to BOINC.
