confused Increasing Throttle doesn't affect usage?

Hello Everyone,

Im currently trying to get my AMD 64 Mobile 4000+ (laptop) to use more than (approximately) 25% of CPU usage. The CPU throttler program seems not to affect this at all. Can anyone give me any advice as to why this is happening? confused

Re: Increasing Throttle doesn't affect usage?

i believe UD only does one core, while BOINC can do more? or it is a hyperthreading issue.

wait for better reply smile

Hi Nickoli,
Start WCGridMaxCPU.exe, then click the User-Defined button, then increase the slider-bar throttle to 100%.

also try opening 'task manager' by right-clicking at bottom of screen, look at CPU usage and see what else is taking your CPU (if anything)?

Re: Increasing Throttle doesn't affect usage?

okay, fez up, are u using Threadmaster, BES, CPUidle or some other process limiter? If no dual core or HT, your should be seeing 60% in the Taskmanager by default on UD agent. If Threadmaster, the default is around 15-25% for any process in the same priority category.

Test: Open UD agent's graphics screen. Except for FAAH which does not have the Throttle indicator, you should be seeing the percent default of 60% or the one chosen with the WCGMaxCPU utility that Lawrence pointed u to. The samples below shows 95% on 1 machine and 100% on a second. Whilst u move the slider, u should see the value in the graph screen being updated with a little delay.

Hello,

How about setting your Power Scheme to Always On (Right click on your desktop>>Properties>>Screen Saver>>Power>>Power Schemes).

Re: Increasing Throttle doesn't affect usage?

The only other thing I can think of is do you have UD installed as a service? The throttle tool has no effect on UD when running as a service.
