confused What happened in Japan?

Daily performance in Japan has dramatically increased from virtually nothing to some 5 million points in a matter of days recently! applause
Did they do some huge promotional campaign? Does somebody know what was the impulse?

Re: What happened in Japan?

Team 2ch happened!

It's true, but for somebody who has not been closely following this forum over these recent weeks it is a little short. smile
On end of April grid.org which was another distributed computing site has decided to close their shop within two days. Many (most?) of their users have joined WCG which was a convenient place for a move (same kind of projects, similar UD agent).
Team2ch, a Japanese team, was the #1 team in grid.org, and they have moved their thousands members to WCG in less than a week. As if that were not enough, since they are powerful crunchers with powerful machines, most of them have migrated to BOINC to take full benefit of their multicore PCs.
And you can see the result in all stats by team or by country. For WCG's benefit. smile

Cheers. Jean.

Re: What happened in Japan?

.... the irresistible lure of seeing "Japanese" in the Language Selector on all web pages except the forum, right hand top. cool

Hopefully this new 'Top Gun' will give impetus to other big teams like - fill in the blanks - to reinvigorate them to try and keep up smile
