Paris - Smoking just one cigarette can cause tobacco addiction in some people, according to a New Zealand study published on Wednesday. Medical researchers asked 96 000 youngsters aged 14-15 to fill in questionnaires about whether they smoked and whether they felt the need to continue smoking. Those who smoked frequently replied, as expected, that they felt the urge to continue smoking. Smoked my first cigarette when I was 12. Didn't like it. Told my cousin I would not smoke until I could afford a good cigar. Started smoking a pipe years later. Cousin made the expected remark. I replied, "Well, I can afford a good cigar now!"
