bug on website device manager

if your computer name is numbers
exemple: 215478
then when you want to switch device profils
the "device name" is blank .
and the resulting error appear :
"Device Name is required"

the website doesn't handle computer names
made with numbers?

Re: bug on website device manager

Hi otij,

just tried it and renamed one of my old devices to a pure number, saved it, exited, returned to device manager, looked up the device and the number was there.

A few questions:

What browser and version?
Is javascripting permitted/active.

cheers

Re: bug on website device manager

If you dare, can you try IE or FFX.... Opera is not very frequently used, where most all website testing is with Firefox and IE.

Is it the oldest device, newest device?

Can you give the Device ID (not the name), so if unresolved a report can be made to the techs.

thanks

Re: bug on website device manager

ah, that i cannot check.... Ubuntu meaning BOINC clients (assumed you were on UD client for Woz blushing ). At any rate when i attached a different profile to a pure number named UD device it worked. It is thus a bug limited to BOINC devices and profile attaching.... lucky you. The projects can all be set in the My Projects page and with 5.10.7 you will be able to control all settings on the client directly and more. I'll report it to the technicians.

You infer when you 'dared' trying to change something via IE on the WCG website your machine contracted a virus.... you're kidding (that trying was in the past and no AV software in place?).

You need not get a new device ID if you preserve the BOINC dir in a backup and put it back, than re-install over it. I think in fact you only need to copy 1 or 2 files like account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml.... maybe Didactylos knows which exactly.
