FPU operations are supposed to be very fast - but the comparisons to Intel that I read were to older chips. I still think it will be faster than Intel's best chip at the same clock speed. AMD seems to be more focused on performance per watt rather than overall speed. That will win them followers in the network server space but they'll start to lose their end-user fan base. The real test will be the end-user chips due out in November-December.

cool 8X8 drooling
Running a 4X4 platform now as a 2X2. It will only run th FX version of
the Quads. $$ will be the issue here.
I wonder what two FX Phenom Quads will cost at first? shock
