A Contribution to WCG - You Know Who You Are

12 Step Recovery Program For World Community Grid Addicts

1) I will have a cup of coffee in the morning and read my PAPER newspaper like I used to, before I had the neatest sounding screen name on the Grid.

2) I will eat breakfast with a knife and fork and not with one hand typing updates to my Team Page.

3) I will get dressed before I check my over-night statistics.

4) I will make an attempt to clean the house, wash clothes, and plan dinner before even thinking of the how many run-time points I gained.

5) I will sit down and write a letter to a friend before I type something I regret in the Suggestions/Issues Forum.

6) I will call someone on the phone and actually have a conversion before I look to see how many people viewed my thread.

7) I will read a book... if I still remember how. Maybe one of the CA’s can point me to a thread.

8) I will listen to those around me about their needs and stop telling them their homework is less important than the number of WU’s I have running.

9) I will not be tempted during TV commercials to check if that stupid person responded to my brilliant comments about his stupid comments.

10) I will try and get out of the house at least once a week, anyway, I can get to the Grid on a hand-held device.

11) I will remember that my bank does not care how many results I’ve returned.

12) Last, but not least, I will remember that I must go to bed sometime... and the World Community Grid will always be there tomorrow!

Thanks for the bump buddy!! Did I check out? Or should I just check in?

It will probably sink to the bottom. Just trying to use some humor in light of some recent events. Besides, I resemble my remarks! biggrin

Yep, guilty as charged, esoteric17. Knowing what is right is so much easier than doing what is right. Thanks for the bump. <dataman>

Bump, and more truth than fiction in your 12 step plan.
I too have been bothered by some of the current events.
ALL people need to understand that there are certain subjects that are so personal that they shouldn't be discussed in places like this.
Religeon is at the top of that list in my opinion.
It is yours and yours alone and that should be respected by all.
That's enough for here and good health to all..

Yes the religion and politics bothers me too ... but heck, it is the world we live in. The admin's have a tough choice between what is "off topic" and what is free speach. Me thinks the problem has been going on for ages. The 12 step are things I have done wrong here ... a bit of an appology ... and a bit of humor ... thanks for the bump. <dataman>

No offence Movieman, but I disagree. Turning a blind eye to stuff that is posted or said or whatever that shows prejudice towards others does'nt get things fixed and should always be tackled head on IMO. Anyone hiding behind a religion while posting offensive things or providing external links to stuff encouraging hatred of other groups etc in the name of their own religion saying that their God says "its all ok" is no excuse.
