Hey Ya
UD runs much better on my AMD Duron based machine. Does this mean that I am practically excluded from any new projects coming down the pike? I'm not sniveling, since FA@H and HPF2 are great. Just wondering about the future limitations of "single-core" machines?! Are we "in the groove"?! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hi 7cures, It would appear so: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=15417#122513 Edit (from Member News): BOINC Migration Announcement [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 3, 2007 11:19:52 PM] |

Hey Ya UD runs much better on my AMD Duron based machine. What do you mean when you say it runs better? There really shouldn't be too much of a difference between UD and BOINC as far as performance goes since the client really just manages the science application. At least with the BOINC client, you have more options for projects since the Dengue project is also BOINC only. I wouldn't be too surprised if more and more future projects move towards BOINC. |

Thanks, but all projects will be boinc, probably after mid 2008. Check out the links on esoteric17's post. They reflect WCG's future policies in this area. Maybe you haven't experienced the almost geometric performance boost that happens with Boinc on a Dual-Core machine. Or, you haven't been at WCG long enough to remember pre dual-core crunching. Doesn't matter, since there's more than enough UD work units to keep my little electronic abacus going until I can afford something up to date!!!!
