It's a new month, and if you've been reading this thread with some frequency you probably know what that means. It's time to look back at our previous month of crunching.
And what month June was! We set a new points record, which naturally means we set a new points/day record. We also set a new high for points/hour of CPU time, drawing ever so close to 80 points/CPU hour. So we're crunching more efficiently too! Let's get to some numbers.
Here we can see that with about 7 additional CPU Days, we added about 30,000 points! We steamed along to this high average by having 27 of June's 30 days score above 500,000 points. We also scored over 400,000 the other 3 days of June which means the last time we scored less than 400,000 is still back on March 31! How does June with 30 days stack up to May's 31 days and June of '08? Rather well!
Although we did not beat May's CPU time, we did beat its point total and broke the 16 Million barrier! And look how we stack up to just 1 year ago. Nearly twice the points, which means nearly twice the FLOPS (aka amount of calculations). And don't forget the 34,579 results! That's a lot of work even if there are some smaller work units out there. We also have a full month of project specific data to play with. The first thing that stands out to me is that in June we dedicated over 1 CPU year to every active project except for Clean Energy and Beta testing. Also, it was a pretty good mix with 2 projects with 1 year, 2 projects with 2 years, 3 projects with 3 years, and 1 project with 4 years. Below is a breakdown of where we spent our cycles, and you can see how we shifted from May.
There were 82 milestones in May, take a look at the milestone list to see if you are in that list. Most notable are drick78 who passed an amazing 2.5 Million ! ![]() Everybody have a fantastic July, and let's see where God takes us. Crunch on! ![]() |

Hi all! A couple points of note from the past couple days. For one, July 8th showed us with a huge day. Of course, that is mainly due to the stats run breaking the prior day, leaving us low on credit for that day. It's a pity too, because one of those two days may have been rather impressive on their own. Over the two days we averaged nearly 600,000 each day! A few more points on either July 7th or 8th and we could have had a new personal record.
One other item of possible interest. We've been crunching Phase 2 of HCMD rather hard. We're about to break 5 Million points on that project alone - which is a lot of crunching in a short amount of time. In fact, it is more computation power than we spent on the entire Phase 1 of HCMD! And, it took about 3 times as much computation time to get this far on Phase 1 of HCMD. When all is said and done with Phase 2, we'll have made a great contribution! Thanks for all your crunching! |

I have some sad news...my dual core has been having 'events' for 2 weeks now, so I have set it to 'no new tasks' and once these are done crunching, I am taking it offline until I find out whats going on. I have been running HFCC, HCMD, and Flu on that machine. Now, I will only have my quad running HCMD and Rice.
----------------------------------------Hope to get it figured out soon. . ![]() |

I have been running HFCC, HCMD, and Flu on that machine. Now, I will only have my quad running HCMD and Rice. Do you know what the temperature of your dual core is? When I start having events, heat is usually the culprit. The fix might be as simple as blowing the dust off the fan on your CPU. Good luck with whatever it is!Hope to get it figured out soon. . On an entirely different topic, these new badges are fun! I probably won't do specific hunting beyond gold, but I like seeing other colors for work beyond 90 days. |

Sorry to hear about your computer. Definitely get CoreTemp - a program that allows you to monitor the temperature of your CPUs. Google your processor type and "max temp" to get an idea of where you should be temperature wise.
----------------------------------------Hope you can fix it soon! ![]() |

On another note - I'm starting my crunching up again. I was active over a year ago but school, work, and other things became priority. We just got a new AC unit where I live so I can run WCG without overheating my room.
----------------------------------------I bring my Dell dekstop Quad 2.4Ghz back to the table (will be turning that on tonight) and my Lattitude D830 laptop with T9300 (2.5Ghz dualcore) which has been crunching for most of yesterday. The laptop's CPU fan never goes to high mode - been spinning at low all day yesterday even though it is set to 100% cpu, which is nice. Got several Childhood Cancer tasks done. Going to try to get several friends to join up. Go team Christian! ![]() |
