Upgraded to BOINC on Win2KPro PC, cannot get work

I have just upgraded from the UD client to BOINC 5.10.22 on my W2K Pro machine and am unable to get work:

22/10/2007 4:23:00 PM||Fetching configuration file from http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/get_project_config.php
22/10/2007 4:25:42 PM|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user
22/10/2007 4:25:42 PM|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Requesting 30240 seconds of new work

22/10/2007 4:25:47 PM|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Deferring communication for 1 hr 21 min 4 sec
22/10/2007 4:25:47 PM|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Reason: scheduler request failed

I'd be grateful for any suggestions on how to resolve this.

Many thanks,
EvT

Did you have an internet connection when you were requesting work?

Yes, there is an always-on internet connection.

I may also be reading this wrong, but it seems to me that the configuration file was fetched correctly from the server, but the work request failed.

hi eviltoad,

Can you post more of the message log from before and after the lines you already shared earlier.

The "failure when receiving data from the peer" has appeared in threads discussing proxy issues. Is there one and if so would you mind visiting and join in there:

Thank you, Sekerob.

I've skimmed through the thread and have found a few things I can try. Will let you know the results later today.

I've also created cc_config.xml and inserted the debug statements. On reloading the config file I get more detailed messages which I can't post until I've sanitized certain information, but what I gather from it is that the proxy server is running Squid 2.61STABLE14 and using NTLM authentication. It would appear that there are problems with authentication.

Re: Upgraded to BOINC on Win2KPro PC, cannot get work

Well, I've tried upgrading to 5.10.26 in a last-ditch attempt to get the BOINC client working, but no go.

I'm reverting to the UD client (which has no problems connecting with WCG servers) for now.

With any luck, a BOINC client compatible with my environment will be released before the UD projects go dark.

Please visit the next thread over at BOINC dev forum. Several people assert that they have the proxy with NTLM working on the previous recommended version 5.8.16. A download link is provided there.

Re: Upgraded to BOINC on Win2KPro PC, cannot get work

Hello.

wcg on BOINC dont work with an ISA proxy on any recent versions.
Version 5.8.16 of BOINC works for other projects but not with wcg. Probably something to do with the use of SSL.
