Agent Gives Connection Error When Starting in Linux

I just downloaded the agent and am now trying to run it. Immediately after I see a popup window that gives me an error message which says:

BOINC Manager - Connection Error

Authorization failed connecting to running client. Make sure you start this program in the same directory as the client.

As far as I know I am starting the program in the same directory as the client. Other than that what is wrong?

Re: Agent Gives Connection Error When Starting in Linux

The boinc program is probably running as user 'boinc'. Check that first with 'top' or 'ps'. The user that starts boinc manager is an other user than boinc and is normal but you need to have the priveleges to run boinc manager.
Run boinccmd and check that boinc is running good. Than check the file with a name like pasword or something in your boinc directory it should be readable by the user that wants to run boinc manager. Sorry but I don't know the name of that file anymore. I'm sure someone will add it here.

I hope you get it working now.
