I am closing down for three full days whilst I go to my annual reunion of war veterans! Off to Duxford Sunday, Regiment family day, clay pidgeon shoot, paintball shooting, rides on military vehicles, Drumhead parade and of course 'The beer tent', all the facilities of Duxford are free to Associates for the day. So what were your old units and where did they get to? Mine were 194(AL) and 163 Field Ambulances. For a year or so I was also in the R.A.C. Royal Naval Commando. Was also in the RAC but got fed up and joined the AA ![]() Fought mainly in the middle east - Cyprus and Aden Protectorate (now South Yemen) and Yemen. A long long time ago now! ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 16, 2008 2:24:15 PM] |

Evening all
Dry but cool here, guttering guy didn't turn up so it's back to yellow pages in the morning. My local builder friend is just too busy with big jobs at the moment and has yet to finish with a friend of mine so I can't go trying it on with him. Have a good trip Ted. |

A long long time ago now! ![]() Long time ago too but memories of those years come flooding back at our little reunions, tho' sometimes the elaborated stories create more bull sh~t than was ever spread on the fields of Lincolnshire ![]() seriously tho' the comradship formed when thrown together in conflict is something that ordinary civilians often do not understand, so strong is this bond that when a comrade passes on to that great parade ground in the sky there is a great sense of loss equal to that of losing a close relative. As a non-commissioned officer I served in Cyprus on a peace keeping tour, BAOR, Gibralter(preventing Franco from invading) Malaysia as part of SEATO (19 Field Ambulance Brigade), North Africa (Tobruk)finaly being kicked out by Col Gaddafi, Kenya as guest of the then government and Northern Ireland where I lost several comrades. I also was part of a recruitment team 'The Army Youth Team' teaching youngsters physical training; I am now an active member of the Royal British Legion and am on the committee of the Royal Anglian and Northamptonshire Regimental Association. I served with two units The Northants who amalgamated with the Lincolns to become the East Anglian - now Royal Anglian Regiment and with The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, I started my career as a Rifleman then an Anti tank gunner went on to become a signaller and finaly finished as a Army Medic. I ended up marrying into the RAF but thats another story ![]() Bored yet? Nite nite ![]() Old 'but still going' Sage |

Come on You dozy buggers wake up at the back there You there , Sage , quote us a Poem , A Ditty or what ever akin to half ships company going ashore well all the Ocifer class any way sure you will find sum thing Ok you asked for it!! ...... Excerpt from The British 3rd Division ( Author unknown) From Middlesex and shropshire, from dear old Norfolk too, from Warwickshire and Lincolnshire there men so strong and true, From Lancashire and Yorkshire, no wars of roses here, but all together, side by side their path of duty clear,. Stout lads from bonny Scotland have fought and made their stand, with the fearless sons of Ulster who came from Shamrock-land; their courage and tenacity, their boldness of decision, writ large the name in history of The British Third Division. These men(and women), the're heroes everyone, the living and the dead, shirked not the call for sacrifice from those who ably led; Immortal and undying their glory will not cease. Their names will live forever in the hallowed years of peace. The might of Britain whence they came, enhanced by men like these will live and grow to greater heights, ne'er to wane or ease; Twill rise again yet ever strong, will know no indecision; Whilst men are born in Britain, like those of the British Third Division. Amen |
