Thanks for Crunching ACH!

Hi all!

AfricanClimate@Home has been running for almost half a year now and we at UCT will like to thank everyone who has been a part of this project. Given the somewhat demanding conditions that systems running our work units need to meet (most of our own systems here are "excluded" on account of bandwidth), we are particularly appreciative of those of you who have managed to "convince" World Community Grid servers to send the ach WUs to your systems anyway.

The results from your crunching are coming in steadily and Igor has taken a preliminary look at some of the output. Key variables of interest like temperature and precipitation in sampled outputs showed expected diurnal patterns. This tells us the model is working as expected by and large. Extensive analysis will only begin after all the runs have ended and that is when we will finally be able to see what kinds of effect these changes in parameters are having on the climate and the lessons to be learned. Until then, happy crunching and thank you for being a part of this quest to improve our understanding of simulating the African climate!
