Re: Old UD member?

Believe the formal burial was executed on the Serpentine, London Knightsbridge or somewhere there by a few former UD crunchers. As debsgr8 said, the years but the last 2 (in which air was crunched so is my strong impression) were good and surely cemented some lasting relations. But, now it's time to move on.... Maybe "the last post" should now be horned, maybe a thread in the chat room titled "I was there, but the times they are a changin'". It's with any marriage, there is that 7 yearit's itch and this one could not be worked through.

You mean this

and This

Re: Old UD member?

I wondered what happened to grid.org

I ran it and the original seti@home

I worked overseas in Israel and Saudi, (1997 - 2000) when I came back I didn't start crunching (until earlier this year.)

Would have been nice to have carried some credit forward (like Seti Classic) but hey ho!!

I couldn't remember what my username was either even if there was an archive stats page lying around

All I have to say is 1.3 Million BOINC users can't be wrong

Re: Old UD member?

I started crunching in late 2004, and United Devices was the carrier. Remember that June 2005 crash! I kinda think their muckety mucks soured on the whole experience right then and there, and decided to very stealthily and sleazily pull the plug. Their motive was to market software. And it wasn't an unfriendly takeover at United Devices, if I recall correctly. It was a boardroom swap! cool

You've got me there....an early WCG acceptor. It was rather fun watching things self destruct...with bulletins full of dark red text from Jay Serafin biggrin , even as WCG kept adding projects.
