Below is the stream of messages I receive in the BOINC client after installation. I know the account key, because it's in the profile, but (1) where do I need to insert it in the Client interface to make it recognized? (2) Is there a protocol I need to run to get the client to "see" the computer?

It looks like something went wrong when attaching to World Community Grid.
Try this: Detach from World Community Grid using the button on the Projects tab. Attach to World Community Grid again using Tools -> Attach to project. I'm sorry you were inconvenienced by this. |

That is the same solution as Didactylos mentioned in this other thread. Are we seeing a pattern?

Yes, this isn't the second time - maybe the fifth or sixth.

Could be. When I run Search for "Invalid or missing account key" I get several pages of results. Didactylos handled the last report for a user who did not report his OS. Maybe this is a Vista interaction with the recent install script?

You may still have other problems though as you installed to C:\Program Files\BOINC
----------------------------------------Vista does not like it that programs write to disk in the \Program Files\ directory. So the best thing would be to uninstall BOINC, move the whole BOINC directory with all remaining files and sub-directories to c:\ so you get a directory C:\BOINC there and then install BOINC to that directory! What problems can you expect if you don't do this? Non-working graphics, tasks that crash for no reason whatsoever, permission problems, etc.
