biggrin Team Demonoid

Howdy ya'll,

This team has been around for a while (since 2004) we were originally attached to Grid.org but in 2005 some of us saw the end in sight over at Grid.org and came over to WCG.

I just took over team captain; I was the original creator of Team Demonoid when it was over at Grid.org, when that site closed its doors we all came flooding over to WCG.

Therefore, I figured it was about time to throw our name out into the ocean of teams so ya’ll can get to know us instead of just seeing our name in the challenges and wonder, “who the heck is that”.

I originally created the team to fight cancer but since then have opted to help in as many ways as my & fellow teammate systems can handle.

We are a bunch of great users from the world of BT (bit torrent) and the Demonoid site (we are still around even when the site is not) that want to try to make a difference in the world of medicine.

To show folks what we can actually do as a whole, since most of our systems are on for long periods of time we figured we would put the unused cycles to a good use. To help others not to have to endure pain and suffering associated with famines and disease, to help the world become a better place to live.

Re: Team Demonoid

Until we have a "Yesterday" list for teams as for the other stats this is not an easy task.
I can just tell you that your team has
- 480 active members in WCG
- 275 in BoincStats of which
- - 76 have received credits during the last 30 days
- - 34 have received credits yesterday.

So yes, indeed, you may expect big improvements if you are able to address your teammates. From this other list in BoincStats it's obvious that the end of the UD agent has not moved many members of your team.

Good luck. Jean.

Not at all. It is what you read. smile
What it says is that 90 % of Demonoid is not or no longer using Boinc, which is much different.
In fact you already have 154 (30 %) who have never returned a single result (whether UD or Boinc). No reason to be ashamed, that's the same in many other large teams.
And you probably have another big percentage of the remaining 70 % who were no longer returning results even before UD was stopped. That too is not unusual.
That's why it would have been useful to have better detailed reporting of members activity before the migration. Now it is very difficult for a team captain to identify members who might be stuck running a useless UD agent.

Too bad. Jean.

Re: Team Demonoid

Hi, Tsurani.

Why not try to take your team up a notch and take on the other "big name" website teams? From my own experience, the only way to do this is to get the Demonoid head guys involved, and feature World Community Grid right on the front page of Demonoid.com.

This will more than make up for your losses in switching from UD!

Hi Tsurani! You are my team's "temporary nemesis" in a good way. Right now, my daily stats are right below yours. I am gradually upgrading all of the computers in my office to make my team stronger. I picked you as my benchmark becuase you participate in a lot of challenges and its easy to measure myself against you. Your team is a monster compared to mine, I only have ten computers. On run time, you kill me, but in results and points were are very close now. I just thought I would drop you a line and say hi and keep up the great work. You are motivating and inspiring me to do more.

My future plans include replacing my two weakest machines with q6600 quad cores. It should be in placwe within a month or two.
