[courine actually speaking as courine]

Welcome! I'm here as courine today because there is much to explain in what is to take place in 2 weeks from this post. See, WCG SPORTS is a 2-fold consortium. It runs the race stats for the "Big Races", but also runs a challenge foundry. We don’t make races so much as to develop ways to use what we got in the current challenge system, to improve the use of this very valuable tool.

The current objective is league play. The reason why this is important is that only a few teams are really competitive. This doesn’t mean that only the top teams can compete, in fact it means the reverse. This is due to the point spread being much larger than the competing team can span. Thus you get a race that is predestined on day 1.

To remedy this, WCG SPORTS uses it's resources to present a league play simulation.

Let me know how you feel about this.biggrin

Re: WCG SPORTS LIVE coverage of a WCG SPORTS presentation: "The 2008 Invitationals"

Try it in the fashion of a handicap system, courine. I saw some writing on the wall about a % improvement approach. There's no competing of the rest of say against the top 10 or 12, so unless a handicap type system is introduced, even for the top 12 it's difficult. #1 or #2 for instance is so big (in member terms) that if they enroll they could not respond, so it has almost unavoidably got to be a league/handicap combo, so is my thinking.

ciao

The problem isn’t what game, but whether or not they know what game is being played, if they know there is a game at all.

The point normally missed by many, is that we do this as a world together. The work we do by crunching is really the short end of the value stick. The real gain comes when you look at the vastness of the domain we crunch in. You see a world working together to aid science for the benefit of the common good. It is through this that we see past our differences, and go forth as a world people united. Showing the way to a brighter future, not just by crunching, but by example a well.

Sek, realize that we have our differences, but here we seem to push them aside. Geo and I also don’t see eye to eye on everything, but here we have our eyes on 1 thing. In fact if you think about it, the 3 of us working together to produce the last "big race" thread, is a testament to this quote. WCG SPORTS itself is a concept that was born to express the meaning of the longer end of the stick. Something I enjoy you take part in. For as we together announce the races, we also point out the "point normally missed".

So, in the end, it doesnt matter to me what game type we play. Its the fact we are playing one together.

Oh and I should go look for the place I found that quote. Hehe, I forgot, its me.

I've been pretty busy, but to help me completely understand the nature of the nutjob posts in question, please vote between the 2 examples listed below:

Nutjob Post #1

Nutjob Post #2
[courine struck by PTSD, has delusional episode. Thinks she is Robert Duval in Apocalypse Now, flips her mic on and yells over the noise]

Hear that? Its the sound of CPU Fans! I love the sound of CPU fans. There is no sound like it.. It reminds me of the fight back in grid.org, where every result, every point, every hour of CPU time was met with a salute.

You might think its funny, but the first thing I do everyday, as soon as my feet hit the floor, is stand and face my machines, then come to attention. My right hand rises slowly, with fingers and palm straight. My elbow bends as my right index finger touches my temple. I think for a moment of those who have fallen to our enemy. Then say "Keep up the good work and thank you for carrying on without me, during my human infirmity called sleep. As your were."

You know though, I cant quite place it. That whirring? But to me, there's nothing like waking to the sound of CPU fans in the morning. It seems to sound like a call. It sounds like?... It sounds like?..... victory.

You know soldier, someday this will all be over. Every work unit complete. In heaven's name, what will we do?

Please vote. biggrin

Please understand, it takes much to be a class nutcase now days. With all the competition, everyday the gap closes. Thus I wake everyday to new challenges, new frontiers and new dreams; on how to exactly refine the nature of delusions and fantasy, into true works of absolutely perfect psychosis.

Realize, it takes much to be this crazy.
