I've recently got back into crunching for WCG after a long absence, and everything's going well apart from the Nutritious Rice for the World project: after three work units, only one has completed successfully. (I've had no problems with any of the other projects.) In each other case, I got a string of messages like the following:
Task R00183_2d4a175cc3b0cb7a7ccd37a42c6602dc_03_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. In case it matters, I'm using BOINC version 6.2.15 under Linux (2.0GHz Pentium M CPU). Have I just been unlucky, or is there some problem I should know about? Right now, I'm tempted to remove the project from my list :( Regards, Peter |

Hi and welcome back to WCG's crunchers world.
----------------------------------------Linux is not my forte. 6.2.15 is the latest recommended 6 release at Berkeley, so that's fine. As for the particular error, it's covered in 2 FAQ's, one for Vista, one none OS specific: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...=&forum=3&rows=20 It's an irritating issue and why only RICE is a riddle, myself having had major issue with RICE on Vista until the last version for Windows. Can you find the Result Status page and click on the "Error" in the status column to see if there are any alarming lines in the Result Log. ttyl.

It's an irritating issue and why only RICE is a riddle, myself having had major issue with RICE on Vista until the last version for Windows. Can you find the Result Status page and click on the "Error" in the status column to see if there are any alarming lines in the Result Log. The <stderr_txt> sections of the Result logs consist of lines like Unrecognized XML in parse_init_data_file: computation_deadline Skipping: 1226009972.136000 Skipping: /computation_deadline wcg_seed 934287402 main(): couldn't open R00183_2d4a175cc3b0cb7a7ccd37a42c6602dc.sequence for reading! repeated over and over. It looks like a file that should have been created during the run is missing, but I've no idea why. Any thoughts? Peter |
