Linux and Mac BETA results

We are currently looking at the BETA results from the Linux and Mac platforms. This is going slower than usual due to the work needed to move World Community Grid to a new hosting environment. If the data from the BETA test look good, then we will release the Linux and Mac Intel versions to production.

Thank you for your continued participation in World Community Grid!

Woohoo! I'll be much relieved to put away the Parallels and retire Windows off my Mac desktop in order to run CEP at native speeds. Thanks!

Any idea what the time-frame is? I currently have some profiles set to NRW and CEP only but with NRW providing no work for the last 3 days, they are sitting idle.

Re: Linux and Mac BETA results

Hi,

I'm sure I speak for many others who haven't bothered to participate in the discussion yet, but who are never-the-less waiting with excitement for the first Mac/Linux WU's for this project. I have been crunching numbers on WCD and other projects for years now, and this is the first time I have bothered to post in a forum thread.

Somehow this project seems more important than many of the others. Not that there is anything wrong with curing cancer or aids... That's a great thing. But there is more to life than keeping large numbers of people alive. We must also live sustainably, within the limits of our planet's resources.

This project is unique in that it is searching for ways to sustainably support our populations on this planet. So Thank you very much for bringing this project to us. But please continue the hard work to get the software running for us Mac and Linux users who are eager to participate!

Thanks again,

Heady

As has been mentioned numerous times, beta WUs are not that common. You may go a long time before getting one and, when you do, most of the time they are short ( less than 2 hours ).
