This is how it works. On for a bit, off for a bit. It averages out to 40%.
It seems you have some non-BOINC processes using quite a bit of CPU, too. |

Boinc is the only process working ! then should have an average of 40 % ....
surely is not . If I cannot lower this level I have to stop Boinc. |

That's not what your graph shows. What does Task Manager show?

Hello landolini,
40% means run BOINC for 2 seconds, pause for 3 seconds. 50% means run BOINC for 1 second, pause for 1 second. If you run on Windows, you can use ThreadMaster instead for fine control while setting BOINC to 100%. ThreadMaster will control the CPU usage during each second. Better tell us more. Lawrence |

40% means run BOINC for 2 seconds, pause for 3 seconds. 50% means run BOINC for 1 second, pause for 1 second. If you run on Windows, Here 3 second is 100 and two are 50.. I 've linux......and when I process more job I reach hight thermal status..... then I have to stop boinc . regard . |

Hello landolini,
Are you sure you do not have a dual-core CPU that is running more than 1 thread? If you are worrying about heat on your laptop, you should only run 1 thread. Lawrence |

I have just tried 10 % myself (via Advanced->Local preferences), and I can tell you that
----------------------------------------- Boinc respects it immediately - the graph does not look like yours at all. I think it is time now for you to look for what else is running in your machine. Make sure that the list is sorted on % CPU and that all processes are displayed Also make sure in the bottom right corner of BoincMgr that it is connected to localhost, and by the way tell us the version number that is shown there. Cheers. Jean. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by JmBoullier at Jan 9, 2009 8:37:58 AM] |
