****Could be based in arguments from the real world of people that not join WCG, due language barriers or something like that. Statistics from WCG usage aren't the best way to evaluate if a language is important or not.

Language translation reach is not a simple question of usage of WCG statistics by country users or power users that are already using this grid computing project and decides registered your countries in yours profiles. It is just to leverage this usage by people that not use due language barriers, and in this way are blind for this project once did not understand what happens, or simply what was wrote in English...

Language translation is a kind of bet. All smart projects have a consistent plan to increase it year by year, project by project. And we (Portuguese speakers) are comfortable to request Portuguese as one language option to be implemented in near future, once we have consistents arguments to believe that will improve a lot new WCG users, period.

I disagree Astrolab, and I guess that you made some confusion.

Your example using German language is very wrong, once there are half of people that spoken German compared with Portuguese.

And even if we consider native languages speakers, that count much more than second languages ones, Russian native speakers will appear bellow portuguese too, and in total speakers will appear above.

There are many sources to get this information as official, from serious researches intituitions, but you will need pay for it. But, there are free information from many sources too, like United Nations, CIA, Wikipedia, Google, etc.

What would it contribute if an admin posted something like "Portuguese language might be supported in the future"? (cause I doubt they'll be willing to state anything more definite)

Incredible the kind of lack of care that sometimes I saw here. Most of time saw reactive posts, most of time destructives ones, most of time against innovations and criativities and evolutions, most of time just need be what the guys means, not what the users suggest or request. Did you consider that in this way, you dont will need more the forums ?
