I'm closing in on my last 2 available gold badges after ~2 months of crunching with 2 machines. I've got enough rice tasks in my queue to get that one, so I've switched my profile to only accept dengue tasks. I'll hopefully have my dengue gold badge by the end of the week. (The reason for wanting gold badges must be subconscious because I can't think of a logical one.)
----------------------------------------My question is: How do you have your projects configured? Do you run a few of the most important (to you) projects or do you run all available projects? Also, if I join a team, does the team get credit for all past work or only future work? |

I have two clients running all projects and one running the DDDT and CEP for my gold badge. And at last I have a small acer aspire one just running rice. I'm thinking that its a bit selfish to just run the projects that are important too me, so I contribute in all for now, maybe I'm getting more selfish by the years, you never know, you know

Teams only get credit you earn while you are actually a member of the team.

For a start, congratulations pirogue on gaining so many Gold badges so quick - after all, you've only been with us since the early part of December
----------------------------------------![]() You must surely have some powerful machines under your command... especially if you've calculated that you'll have the other two available Gold badges by the end of the week (as DDD-T is/was only a Bronze badge when you originally posted, that's 45 CPU days to crunch at best, not including the remainder you'll need to get your Gold in NRW). As for what's next... Well, as I'm sure you're already aware of, there's always talk in the forum of implementing a higher badge than Gold (at a guess, that'd be for at least 1 years CPU contribution to a project), so that's something to go for... Also, there are rumours that there's another project or two in the offing... Then, of course, there's always the challenge of helping to finish 'crunching' a particular project (or two) earlier - perhaps one that you've got a personal interest in... Finally, and this is truly a hard one to succeed in, there's always the Beta badge to go for... For this, you won't just need shear 'processing power', but luck as well - as there's so few Beta WU's, and so many people looking for them... (that is, of course, when there's some testing going on for your particular platform...). ![]() |

Several of my teammates have achieved their gold status here and have moved on. In the days of hyper-threaded quadcores, one year wouldn't be an outrageous participation level. ![]() |

Am planning to have at least 1 year CPU time for any running project because you'll never know what higher honors are being bestowed

Thanks for the replies.
----------------------------------------I've decided I'm just going to participate in all of the projects. I'll let WCG figure out how to prioritize. Oh, and I miscalculated. I'm only up to a little over 70 days on dengue. I had too many rice units left in my queue. I overshot the rice gold by about 30 days. ![]() |

I am working on balancing the run times on all my projects. CEP is approaching 1 year (currently halted for lack of WU) and FA@H and DDDT are working on their second year.
It will all get rearranged if we get the new Project X to start in March. I`ll reassign my systems and push the new project to one year before I go back to balancing the projects. |

But I had to give up that one for the moment, there are no fresh work units in the pipeline... ![]() My plan is now to gain 3 years for each project... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

One by one project by project, my intention is similar SEKEROB comented. I lost in recent past, the possibility to have all GOLD badge level for all projects due lack of time available and attention on projects time crunched and probably due did not participated actively in forums to collect right and fresh information about new projects and it duration... ![]()
