I thought the energy, detergents and water used in washing them would means this not as clear cut as it first looks. I think the extra effort means I would use disposable ones. apparently it only means 1-2hours of extra work per week, so 10-15 minutes a day andddd i've seen studies that say even if you calculate all the extra energy use, it's still more environmentally friendly than disposable ones (apparently a disposable one takes 50 years to decompose and they're being burnt to prevent landfills) normally I would have taken this with a pinch of salt (does that expression even translate?) we've heard pretty outrageous claims by the cotton nappy lobby for example that drying in open air is better than a dryer (we don't have a dryer...proud smile...it's being delivered tomorrow...hangs head in shame...) buttt these figures are from the Belgian government (which we , as per norm, don't really have at the moment, but still they seem to churn out studies) and I don't suspect them of ANY environmentally sound strategy ![]() In my day, there was no such thing as disposable nappies!! my mom tells me I was part of the first generation with disposable nappies not that I remember ANY of it ![]() |

Eating disposable nappies, even taken with a pinch of salt, in my estimation is not going to make them palatable!

Evening all.
Been sunny here most of the day but I can't say that it's been very warm with a cool breeze. I guess it's waiting for Merle to go to Wimbledon. Just finished reading Antony Beevor's D-Day. Military History is not my usual diet but ever since I read Stalingrad, I realized he was something special and this just confirms it for me. |

Nappy washing involved several buckets and rinsing no chemics
----------------------------------------even a boil then clip on the line outside my comment about the durability of terry nappies from me circa 1940's handed on to son to use circa late 1960s must have been eco friendly ...... You don't need a ton of chemics to keep things clean just some water and "soap" and a boiler ?? just guess how long we have been doing this with babies This is all from a Bloke , who has been thru the events described above |

The Disposable nappy mountain is huge ( ugh who sorts them?") volume per Kitten /Puppy per week= at least 4 per child per day times kinder over Europe---------- |
