Dead right Merle

Off for one of my pensioners walks tomorrow morning. It's Mayfair this time and although I know the actual area quite well, the professional guides give you lots of background of its history, well known occupants and the like. Plus it's a chance to catch up with a few friends and then have a pub meal together.

Re: Re:

uh-uh motorcar giving problems, Wishbone?
Sorry to hear that, hope you will get the upper hand.
Here's a choice of music to get you through a bad-car day:
Breaking Up is Hard to Do - the young Neil Sedaka
Breaking up Is Hard to Do - Neil Sedaka swingin' it in Royal Albert Hall
Breaking Up is Hard to Do - The Carpenters giving us whipped cream for our ears
Base Camp thanking Wishbone for making our Outpost Trek #2 finer!

Re: Re:

Evening all

Enjoyed my Mayfair walk but gosh was it hot. It was more like mid summer than May with the guys carrying their jackets and loosening their ties and the girls wearing as little as they could get away with within the bounds of decency. Needless to say, I had nothing against this.

I was looking on digitaluk.co.uk again and it confirms that Lancashire is already complete with analogue switched off and that's why I asked if Den had noticed any improvement. He may, of course have cable. I see that Yorkshire is due this August and it's the London area that will have to wait until the middle of next year. Still, my reception seems pretty good to me so I don't see any need for rush.
I am glad, however, that they decided to delay the radio switchover. I still find the old one behind me now gives a much better sound than the digital one used by my wife.

Re: Re:

Yes Lancashire has been fully digitalised for some time now following Cumbria who were the first to succumb (sorry given improved service)
As I recall The shops had a bonanza when the word got out that analogue signal was to be switched off Your old TV without a freeview digital box was junk .
So you had a couple of options:
1/ Take your old but perfectly serviceable Big lump of a telly to the nearest Skip and buy a new shiny flat screen model digital ready, with free view installed . @300 smackeroonys
2/ Raid the milk money tin and purchase a freeview box £19.50
3/ Reject The idiom as a bourgeois fad

The free view boxes were about 20 quid prior to the switch over
The signal was okay ish sad and you could get about 100 channels including radio .

When the switch off happened the Digital signal was increased

I would think that all TV's now are already equipped with freeview
The quality of my LG tv is excellent however I cant record any thing on the recorder 'cause its an Analogue tuner I could plumb in the diggie box to make recordings yet more wires that I thought I could avoid . I dont want yet another Box at £49 one off payment for HD The answer is a box that allows time shifting pause and rewind of the programme as its transmitted
