My point total has been staying at 34932 for weeks now. Every time I check the tray the thingy IS executing, so what is happening?

I know you sometimes get big jobs that take longer to crunch than others but I wouldn't think a single job should be taking weeks... although I could be wrong on that, but I have not run into any jobs that big.. are you sure the program hasn't crashed? Only thing I can think of is try killing the process and restarting it and see if that helps.

Hans --
----------------------------------------Looking at your statistics, it has been over 445 hours since you were credited with returning a result. The software is designed to terminate and return any work unit that exceeds 336 hours, so you are way beyond that. I think that Oktane is correct that you should try killing the process. To do this on an XP system, press ctrl-alt-del and the "Task Manager" will pop-up. Click on the Processes tab and look for an Image Name of "WCGrid_Rosetta." Click on this and then click the "EndProcess" box and click ok for the warning box and close the task manager. After a small period of time, your agent should automatically recover. I would then monitor the new task you receive and see that it is progressing normally by watching the Task Run Time and Task Execution Progress. If you see that these have dropped back and restarted, you have had a work unit crash and we can start looking at that. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 27, 2005 2:26:48 AM] |

I agree with Prof. Dodgson. The first thing to assume is corrupted software. If the problem recurs after a reinstall, then proceed to step 2 and assume hardware error is causing the program to crash and download new work units. In this case, looking at the 'Useful Utilities' thread at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2490, I would recommend:
3) CPU Tester: http://7byte.com/index.php?page=download General diagnostic program 4) Memory Tester: http://www.memtest86.com/ Memory diagnostic program Or the equivalent diagnostics from your computer's manufacturer. From the other side of the looking glass, mycrofth |

Thank you, professor. I have done what you recommended, and am now waiting to see whether the problem is solved. The new task has started.

Hans --
Glad you are back to crunching. I might point out that Oktane made the suggestion before I did. I am just a bit more inclined to give way more detail than necessary at times. Never did learn to shut up -- LOL |
