Deadline: 4 Days

I took a look at the details of the work item that had a 4 day deadline. Looks like neither I nor my single wingman has an emergency fix. There is only two tasks that got sent out earlier today. So why is this a 4 day deadline instead of the customary 10 or 14 days?

Re: Deadline: 4 Days

Looks like a grant child, 3 generations removed from the parent. The techs can code jobs to move them faster through the system as were they a rush job, this one CMD2_ 0011-3BVO_ A.clustersOccur-3D2E_ D.clustersOccur having been in the cycle for a longer time. Consider the scientist waiting to receive the complete set of positions, so is my expectation, and free up the space with HCMD2 having an phenomenal number of jobs in the loop this moment.

Edit: Note that already the first child is send out with 10 days instead of 14 days deadline for the parent tasks.

Re: Deadline: 4 Days

I have got two of these jobs this afternoon. Normally they are short ones to finish the batch as Sekerob said. Mine have run 40 and 15 minutes under Ubuntu 64.

<off topic>By the way I have the feeling that HCMD2 is benefitting much from 64-bit systems. The average duration of the jobs I get seems much shorter under Ubuntu 64 than under XP32.</off topic>

Cheers. Jean.

Re: Deadline: 4 Days

Hello Jean,
I am pleased that you confirm my feeling since 2 weeks. Since HCMD2 is "stabilized", I notice that the average granted credits of my WinXP64 system grew over 20%.
This observation is really reliable because in the past I devoted this system to HCC - already renowned for taking advantage of 64-bit-integer computation - and since beginning of June, I devoted this host to HCMD2 only.
Indeed it should be probably meaningful to recommend to devote at least XP64-based systems to HCMD2.
At this time, I don't have any Vista-64 based systems, for this reason I limit my statement to XP. However if the trend you noticed with your Ubuntu-64-system can be confirmed, it is to expect that probably every 64-bit-systems can compute HCMD2 WUs efficiently.
Cheers,
Yves
