Sudden compute errors!!!

Well, suddenly I am getting compute errors. All of my four computers are Dell XPS machines; none of which can be overclocked. All four are running various Boinc projects, but my sole PC with WCG is now giving me compute errors, which really surprises me. I just joined on the 14th and have done reoughly 250 WU and none of them were with any errors. Furthermore, the other three computers have never given any compute errors, but just today I have had two in a row. Does anyone know if the core i-7 are prone to errors running CEJ WU? I know that all processors come with various errata, which is the major reason why chip companies come out with new steppings in order to correct as many of these as they can. Still my other core i-7 computers are doing fine with no problems. Any ideas out there?
Cheers
Bill

Re: Sudden compute errors!!!

There is a known issue with some CEP tasks at the moment.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: Sudden compute errors!!!

Hi W.Q.P.,
We think that 2 batches of CEP work units were manufactured incorrectly. They showed up today. What projects are giving you trouble?

Re: Sudden compute errors!!!

Hi Didatylos and Lawrence. I am working solely on the Clean Energy Project with this pc. On a parenthetical note, it does say that the output file exceeds the size limit. The limit appears as 15,000,000 and the file is something around 35,000,000. I am relieved to know that maybe this is a software issue and not a chip issue. In any event, does this info help to make sense of what is happening? Thx in advance!!!
Cheers

Re: Sudden compute errors!!!

Hello W.Q.P.,
There are numerous posts about this on the Clean Energy Forum. In general, if a problem pops up on the weekend, we have to wait for Monday before project scientists will look at the issue.

Re: Sudden compute errors!!!

Thx Lawrence. I looked and I have numerous errors showing over the last 30 hours or so. Since I was already going to add another pc to work on the Conquer Cancer project, I changed my preferences to that project and will let it run until they solve this bad batch of CEP WUs. At least for now I will have no more wasted effort. All told I think i lost 7 or eight WU already. Thx again for your help and I will be eager to find out next week what the problem is with these WUs.
Cheers
