Re: HPF2 Project Badge Recognition Thread

I feel like such a newbie compared to all you multi-year people, but I'm almost to bronze in hpf, just a couple more days and some validations to go!

We all start at the begining just like you. Some crunchers have more resources available than others, but you will find that crunchers with 1 computer are appreciated as much as those with 100 or a datacenter. Everyone contributes what they can. We are all volunteers trying to advance scientific research.

Do some reading, especially the FAQs at the top of the forums, and start participating. The newbie shine will wear off really quick. Keep on crunching!

Cheers coffee

Re: HPF2 Project Badge Recognition Thread

You might be able to upgrade to systems with more cores! I'm not looking to increase my input, just trying to work out how I can maintain my input but reduce my overheads (1.8KW/h) sad I still have about 200days to go before I reach 5years for HPF2, so I will not do anything too drastic just yet. I'm looking for a reasonably inexpensive board that can support 3 or 4 GPUs and probably a 6core AMD, to replace a quad and a dual core system. Alternatively, two such systems could replace 3 quad systems and do at least as much work - keep me folding at about the same rate smile
