----------------------------------------I am not kidding but just received a phone call from my wife (I am in the airport in Vienna) that a few minutes ago the power went out in our basement.  These last days of mad computing have just blown the power fuse. A good remainder that all those CPU's consume real power. So I will have now to strengthen my power supply in the basement. Anyway it is good to let cool the CPU's until tomorrow, they deserve it. This event has shut down three devices out of 5 active. So still two running at normal pace.   |

Here's another way of ranking... I'm very close to first time breaking through RAC (Recent Average Credit) of 2,000 (presently 1,986.25), which puts me for WCG just now on spot 1,712 where my points ranking presently is 1,586 i.e. at least 125 are projected to pass me in the coming period, unless I keep crunching, and I am long winded ;>)

I am also stuck at 9'994. The points have increased a little but the ranking is stable.
----------------------------------------I managed tonight to add on device. Reinforcing the computer grid is fine bu tomorrow we will study how to reinforce the power grid in the basement.After all World Community Grid is also reflected by World Power Grid. It could be interesting to estimate how many megawatts are needed to keep the whole WCG and the contributing devices running. I estimate it at least at 500 MW that is about half the power of a nuclear power station unit which runs about 1 GW to 1.5GW max. I used the total number of units as displayed in the global statistics and which are 1.4 million. |

 Congrats Tommunich. Now you must secure your position. This means crunch, crunch, crunch and do not forget maybe to install an emergency diesel power supply in case you know...... I was afraid to be back over 10'000th once my power supply got out, but I am now 9'589 so I suppose it is ok for the moment. Can't put yet all devices online (due to the damn power problems) again but seems enough to keep the position. |
