August draws to a close with new highs and some change in the forum. So taking a cue from them, I've updated the monthly roundup as well. For instance, here's our new way at looking at monthly averages:
 Better? From the graph you can see we're edging close to the 600,000 points/day mark, which is incredible! In fact, in August we had 8 days over 600,000. Prior to August, we only had 4 days in our entire history. It's also nice to see our CPU time slope up again. Here's the new way at looking at raw performance for the month:  This one may be a little more complex, but hopefully you can figure it out. Run Time and Results are plotted in bars against the left vertical axis, while Points are plotted in the line against the right vertical axis. Due to the scale of the left axis, you don't get to see such drastic changes. I may change this in future months....be warned.  Finally, don't forget to check out the milestone page and see if you were one of the 55 who crossed a significant number this month. 55 is down for us, but 32 of them were milestones equal or above 100,000. There are a lot of people racking up big totals. Great work all! Remember, salt is crunchy. |

Remember this little essay of mine?
Wow! I am amazed by our ability to break records. The past two days we've set two new records for a single day's production. Yesterday was over 625,000 points! That's fantastic, but there was always one thing that bothered me about our production record. There is one single day better in our history, a day when the Base Camp threw a ton of CPU power in with our team. That day netted us 657,439. While a boon to the team, for me it cast a shadow over some of our outstanding days. And though we continue to creep closer to the edge of that shadow, I tend to filter that figure from our team records. Not because I am ungrateful or think ill of them, I think it's great they took a month to help our team, and I've even chatted with a couple of them to learn what they're about. I filtered it because it took focus away from what I know this team is capable of. So today, I filter no more! Not because I've changed my mind, but because you have combined to smash any previous record we've set! Yesterday we scored a massive 684,807 points ! That's nearly 60,000 more than yesterday, and nearly 30,000 more than the Base Camp Assisted number! Or consider this. In one day, we increased upon our record-setting output by nearly 10%! That's not easy for a team this size to do. Congratulations to all! Keep crunching and keep shining your light. Well, here's a Friday Fun Fact for you. That once "untouchable" number of 657,439 is now no longer in our top 10 days. In other words, we've beaten that number 10 times in the past 16 days! Outstanding work, everyone!  |
