We know that some countries civilians are more law abiding than others, there's even a rich one [by self declaration] where 1 in 100 citizens are in jail of some form, so this struck me:
----------------------------------------Belgium is renting a 500 convicted overcapacity jail in the Netherlands, staffed by Dutch and overseen by Belgian Management for the duration of 3 years. Now I wonder how long it takes until the jokes both ways will lead to a prison revolt. Funniest News of the Week

My turn again ;>)
----------------------------------------In Sydney, Australia a 54 year old criminal was arrested for a armed robbery committed in 2001 where the only evidence was a leech found at the crime scene, next to the opened fault. At the time the police took the DNA from it's blood. Recently the perpetrator was arrested for drug possession upon which his blood got tested and compared against the records in the DNA database. Quite a [blood] sucker :D

Thought this one was pretty good:
----------------------------------------Drunken man reportedly rams stolen lawnmower into school bus Published: Friday, October 30, 2009 at 6:30 a.m. Last Modified: Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11:23 p.m. Middle school students on a bus got the giggles Wednesday afternoon. But the man they were laughing at failed to see the humor - or the bus, apparently. Ron Martin, 29, was arrested on a charge of drunken driving after authorities and witnesses say he rammed a riding lawmower into the back of the stopped school bus. The crash caused the mower to tip, Martin and his riding companion to fall off, and the kids who witnessed it all to commence chuckling. The students' reaction prompted an enraged Martin to mount an unsuccessful attempt to board the bus, authorities say. The occupants were from Lake Weir Middle School. Martin, contacted Thursday afternoon at the Marion County Jail, declined to comment. Sheriff's Deputy Abigale Rodriguez went to the 8000 block of Southeast 110th Street Road on Wednesday after receiving a call about the crash just east of Belleview. The deputy noticed Martin and Charlene Mallorey on the mower in the westbound lane. They apparently were using the mower as a means of transportation. Martin had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, his eyes were bloodshot and watery, and his speech was slurred, the deputy reported. The Ocklawaha man was unsteady on his feet and unwilling to cooperate, so the deputy arrested him. Mallorey, 30, told the deputy that Martin had tipped the mower and they fell off, making the children on the bus laugh. She said Martin walked over to the bus and began banging on the doors, demanding to get onboard. Another deputy talked with the bus driver, who confirmed the crash and Martin's subsequent efforts to climb aboard. While en route to the jail, Martin threatened the deputy and repeatedly hit his head on the metal cage in her patrol car, a report said. At the jail, he refused to submit to a breath test. He was held on charges of DUI, threat to a public servant and criminal mischief. The lawnmower, a Scag Turf Tiger model with a 61-inch cutting deck, is valued at $10,000. It had been reported stolen Wednesday morning from a residence in the 11400 block of Southeast 132nd Place in Ocklawaha. The man who made the report told officials that two witnesses told him Martin took the machine. There was approximately $100 worth of damage to the doors of the bus. Edit: PS Sek that hamster is a little hypnotizing. I keep waiting for him to finish his run but he just keeps on going... ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 2, 2009 7:29:58 PM] |

There's a competition for the funniest news.
----------------------------------------1. In Sicily a case of a 447 year old murder was officially reopened. They're wanting to exhume the grave of the murdered to take DNA. ![]() 2. In Austria a masked bank-robber came and found the doors locked early as the staff was on a course. (thought he'd not be noticed with carnaval going on) ![]() ![]() PS: joneill003 had not posted for a long time suggesting he eventually did get hypnotized, but think he snapped out of it quite recently :D

The funniest funniest was that a incarcerated women dug herself out of the Haarlemmer Cupola[Netherlands] just with a spoon. Somehow she managed to get into the pipes underneath the jail, than burrowed her way up through the pedestrian walkway pavement, leaving the spoon at the bottom of the pit. She remains at large

So, the Scottish practitioners of medicine went on strike and the number of mortalities dropped significantly. Went to look and sure enough a study had been performed confirming this paradox. Now I know why some fear their doctor

Women arrested in UK for taking corpse onto plane:
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/A...NiEMzlp3Egm-u66gD9ETJB9O0 LONDON — Police have arrested two women at an British airport after they reportedly tried to smuggle a corpse onto a flight. Police said Tuesday the women were detained at Liverpool's John Lennon airport "on suspicion of failing to give notification of death" of a 91-year-old man. The BBC and other British media reported that the women placed the man, a relative of theirs, into a wheelchair and covered his face with sunglasses in a bid to get him aboard a flight to Berlin. The women, aged 41 and 66, were detained Saturday and have been released on bail. They have not been charged and police say inquiries are continuing. |

Good one, burglars break into a minimum security prison to steal the TV sets, twice!
----------------------------------------http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36690293/ns/world_news-weird_news/ It would make a good gag for a comedy if it weren't actually true: thieves have broken into a Dutch prison to steal the inmates' televisions. Twice in the last six weeks, burglars broke into a minimum-security prison and stole TVs from cells while prisoners were on weekend furloughs, a spokesman for the justice ministry said on Wednesday...
