400,000,000'th result

I think we will hit this around next Tuesday.

300,000,000 July 21'st, 2009
200,000,000 Aug 21'st, 2008
100,000,000 July 7'th, 2007
1 Sept. 20'th, 2004

Any bets as to when we hit 500,000,000?

Re: 400,000,000'th result

A brief, ONE OFF, reconstruction of how we got there in the past few months. It was a squeeze, but the projects appear in order of starting date in the stag stack. Some project WU totals were so thin, could not get it to appear. (Maybe when 500,000,000 comes a round a pie of pie/bar or donut chart.)

Interestingly we've been running lately at a pace of less than 0.2 seconds per returned result.

PS: Not to spoil the fun, but with all those PV jailed results, it's like the returned results already passed 400 M last weekend. My PV dropped from yesterday 34 to 17 just after lunch... with constant crunching.

Re: 400,000,000'th Result, was this morning \0/

Some number, 399,966,633... \o/ would there be a prime in there :?

Another number of interest: We had the members that were active in the past 30 days contribute an average of 24.00 CPU hours per day. The average active members was about 97,000 for that period translating to 9,219 CPU years or 307.3 per day. The January average was 306.1

Active members is a relative number. Some run under a single name hundreds of devices. Also some members actually are representing thousands of students that run their college internal competitions with subteams and all... we can't see that.

Good crunching all!

Should we setup a 500,000,000'th result race. At the present rate it should hit in the October - November time frame.

Sure, why not, but is 7 months not too long for this to enter into the challenge system? Wait till say August, so we can make it some kind of Autumn Rush to the Half Billion Research Results or whatever bwilliant name someone could come up with...

Here the midday chart. I'll leave it till Thurday before refreshing it again.

Did I say 97,000 active WCG members with almost 200,000 devices? Well this came off the Berkeley global BOINC front page and it shocked me in a way:
Active: 322,893 volunteers, 611,890 computers.

That's 30% of global participation contributes to WCG. What is it that we can't bind people to stay on, doing the easiest volunteer job there is on the planet... from your living room... the economic recession? I'm sure those computers are still switched on a few hours a day and it's those hours that add up quickly.

crunching on, come high, come low.

Maybe low boinc kredits comparing with other projects, who prefer giving kredits instead of science results...

rilian, I think I was not clear. Those are BOINC world wide active numbers and they're shrinking, not growing, where WCG stands out to have twice the number of active members compared to the rest of the BOINC world, in % of total members.
