Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

No more Mr Nice Guy, went to bed and set the cache to 6 days and woke up this morning with appearing there to have been a hail storm... piled up B's. 10 over 15 for pe and se. Already 1 pe had started and was into it's 10th hour at 55% and several se completed in 4.66-4.68 hours, so sums say these are worth 6-7 CPU days... a nice stride towards gold.

When done, the rig will have been decommissioned for any A type work for should it arrive, but not very probable in this secco climate ;P

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

Had two rigs set up exclusively for DDDT2 and nothing else, and they got . . . . . . zilch !
How many WU's went out ? Five or six ?
Collatz Conjecture, here we come for these two machines.

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

rwremote, we're very sorry about that, but you have to be on the button. Supplies is still very limited and when looking through the logs, the bulk seems to have gone to Windows, my Linux client reporting many times there was work, but assigned to a different platform. The first to grab a WU copy fixes where the wingman goes... nothing is fair in BOINC life. :D

Meantime, it's confirmed. The first B Type pe branch runs longer than any of the 7 A Types the same Linux quad had. Nicely efficient into the 14th hour and on 85 percent only 10 minutes more gone to the wallclock, moreover nicely short spaced checkpointing so it does one as per settings every 5 minutes.

And, just discover there in the duo queu one se type in between HFCC and HPF2 jobs, so it's possible to get them without knobbing. This makes the expected bounty for the run looking to be worth 8+ days.

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

Got None, Zero and Zilch during the last 3 showers, respectively. Ditto for the last splashing. No overnight netting tactics employed, but then I managed to pick up betas on several systems without having to change settings for four profiles, sit over the systems continuously asking for work, and then reconfigure the profiles.
herna, you were not wrong. It was originally announced that there would be lean periods, but also periods with plenty of tasks. Fortunately scientists can't always predict results, or they would never discover anything.
I'm not banking on reaching Blue for this one. If it pans out that it runs for an extended period at some stage, all well and good, if not I stay at yellow - I redressed my ambition for this project after previous missed showers, and it'€™s already achieved; a badge. I can't be bothered sitting over the computer, trailing threads for announcement and hounding the server for tasks. HFCC, a few personal goals and the prospect of CEP2 and Flu2 are keeping me keen enough.
Good luck,

So these B's really do run long, eh. On my 2 machines, it looks as if they're going to run way longer than originally indicated. That's fine for my faster machine. My slow machine is going to have trouble meeting the 1-week deadline on some of them, even though I'd set my cache to only 2 days to be on the safe side.

I picked up and returned 3 pe's and 3 se's, About 2 days worth.

skgiven, I'm with you on the hunting- whatever happens, happens...

Two silver bugs in the badge square is so cool, who would want to mess that up anyway?

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

I am ashamed to see so many veteran crunchers who are SOOOOO uptight about this project. We are only 1+% done, so there is still over 98% of the project yet to be crunched. Saying stuff like:
I'm not banking on reaching Blue for this one
really just doesn't help everyone to feel good about this project. And then we have the really very unhelpful suggestion of:
Collatz Conjecture, here we come for these two machines
People, there are still another 20+ MILLION WU still to be crunched. There is enough ice cream in the store for everybody, so don't go get all irritated because you didn't get a 5 gallon bucket of ice cream today. This project is going to take time. We have been told this for many months now and guess what: IT HASN"T CHANGED. Sniping at the CA and the Techs and the scientists and each other because you don't have sapphire already is just so child-like. Just face up to reality, quit your belly-aching and show some leadership, especially to the new crunchers who are just joining now and reading the forums.

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

You can manipulate the queue to force the pe's ahead if the 7 days is too tight when following normal FIFO queue processing and underestimated TTC's. I don't know if a combo pe+se is used to generate an C-Type, but for now I force 1 pe to run alongside the se's so by the time the pe finishes, all se will be done on the quad and the remaining pe can run during the night without my micromanaging :P
