Century Milestone

Hi All

I am going to be shamelessly self congradulatory.

I have reached a major milestone in WCG computing. Since joining WCG in December 2004, I have just clicked over the 100 CPU year run-time mark. As I tell non-WCG folks, this is like turning on a PC on June 1 of 1910 and having it run non-stop to present day. Not to lose sight of the real goal of crunching work units, I have completed approximately 170,000 work units in the 100 CPU years.

Unlike a lot of WCG users that have many business or organizational PC’s, I have used only my own home PC’s that I have built and maintained. I currently run 38 CPU cores – 9 Intel Quads and an AMD Dual core.
My numbers as of June 21, 2010:

User - damaxmax
Points - 85,828,397 (#106)
WU - 169,843 (#108)

My new goal is to try and break the 100 rank for points. I may have to upgrade some of my laggard PC’s to the AMD 6 core processors.

Just a word of encouragement to all WCG users. Every CPU cycle devoted to WCG counts.

Re: Century Milestone

Congratulations on this fenominal achievement. That's a milestone only a few will ever reach. And to do it with only home PC's, awesome.

applause applause applause

Enjoy your milestone.

Major Congratulations, damaxmax! You are definitely flying like an eagle! biggrin

And time slippin' into the future is what you have done as well, and that is a great thing as it implies that those 100 Years is a very, very important accomplishment.

Kudos to you! biggrin

Steve Miller Fly Like An Eagle Lyrics

Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future

I want to fly like an eagle
To the sea
Fly like an eagle
Let my spirit carry me
I want to fly like an eagle
Till I'm free
Oh, Lord, through the revolution

Feed the babies
Who don't have enough to eat
Shoe the children
With no shoes on their feet
House the people
Livin' in the street
Oh, oh, there's a solution

I want to fly like an eagle
To the sea
Fly like an eagle
Let my spirit carry me
I want to fly like an eagle
Till I'm free
Fly through the revolution

Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future

I want to fly like an eagle
To the sea
Fly like an eagle
Let my spirit carry me
I want to fly like an eagle
Till I'm free
Fly through the revolution

Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future
Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'
Into the future

Re: Century Milestone

Congratulations Damaxmax.
applause applause applause

The only problem you will have now is that the next major milestone is the half millenium or 500 years. You did 100 years in 5.5 years. So a millenia is in 27.5 years. If you are say under 50 you have a good statistical chance to make it. wink

But who knows? in 30 years from now the quantum computer will do a Millenia in an hour. biggrin
