It is very nice of you to make this offer. I have pointed to this post in a note to the World Community Grid administration at IBM. It would be exciting to see more members join from your country. Best Regards, |

Thank you for the kind offer of converting the World Community Grid website to the Chinese language. As much as we would like to accept you offer, we do not have a framework for adding additional languages at this time.
World Community Grid is very interested in providing the website in non-English languages, and to that end, we are currently in the design phase of how to build a framework for non-English languages. The framework includes the technical how-to’s and a list of languages that we would like to add. At this time, the only language that we have committed to is French because it is a requirement in Canada. So French will be the first non-English version and we will use that to test the framework. This is on our schedule for late 2005. Besides providing day-to-day support, the World Community Grid support team is currently focused on providing a Linux client for World Community Grid. We’ll be publishing a Linux launch date in the near future. We hope to have the non-English language framework design finished in conjunction with Linux launch so that we can start building the language framework and the first translation. When we have the framework in place, we plan to do the translations with internal resources and reach out to the World Community Grid members to help us test the translated pages. To provide some kind of an idea of what the framework might look like, you might want to look at some of these sites that are provided by the same group that sponsors World Community Grid: http://www.tryscience.org/ http://www.hermitagemuseum.org/ http://www.eternalegypt.org/ http://www.hermitagemuseum.org/ |
