Re: Resource share

HiTrustedDragon,

See the website device profile where it's it's called "Project Weight". A translation table for those deviating WCG descriptors and the standard BOINC are found in the Start Here FAQ's

cheers

Re: Resource share

I didn't see anything under the device profile to adjust "Project Weight"
This is one of the reasons that some people aviod WCG, things are so hard to find on WCG compared to other projects.

Re: Resource share

Here's the FAQ http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=17033 with the conversion table of descriptors. If you scroll down you see a screenshot of the Device Profile in Custom mode, since WCG up front only shows the 5 Presets to keep it simple, unless the specific profile has been altered for the key operating parts, as then for that profile the Custom view becomes default. Way down is the Project Weight.

To compensate, you are surely now making a typo in that field and set it to 1000.

Thanks for crunching at World Community Grid.

edit: The Resource Share has had it's own item on the FAQ index... item 2G it currently is.

Re: Resource share

I was using the "Max Output" profile setting that was showing 1% Resource Share on my laptop. I used the "Custom Profile" to make up one for the 100% Resoure Share or as you call it "Project Weight" The problem I see is that we may not want WCG to have the same "Weight" on all computers. Do we make a Custom profile for each computer?

Re: Resource share

There are the 4 device profiles default, home, school, work, that you can modify as you please and then associate each device to one of these. There is a unsupported but accepted backdoor to create as many device profiles as you like. WCG will store them, so you could create a some that are named Speeddemon or a QuadroQuad or whatever hearts content. How? Up top when in for instance school profile change the webaddress and enter. Some have create profiles named after the sciences. HCMD2, HCC, FAAH. They will appear in the drop down box when you associate a device to a location/venue.

More discussion you find in posts by think Moonian, here for instance http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...ead,26301_offset,0#239556

It's unsupported, the techs were just helpful and facilitated them to appear on various pages and drop down lists. As other profiles except for default you can delete them. Frankly, I've never heard or researched how other projects respond to seeing a host with profile that's called something different to the stand 4 locations.

The number is BTW not a percent but a relative 'weight'. If for instance a hosts has 4 projects have 100 attached, they get a Resource Share of 25% each. If you have an other client with 5 projects attached with 100, the weight changes to 20%. It used to be that the highest value was 1000, but think these days it can be as high as 99999. Probably easier for some that don't like fractions and enter 999.99
