I'm back.
----------------------------------------![]() I was delighted to see that the signature script has been running smoothly every night for the past 3 weeks. This delight quickly turned into horror ![]() As some of you have guessed I'm having the same problems with the signatures as Sekerob has with his charts (forum link) Photobucket added a new security 'feature' that will scramble all uploaded file names. This feature was put in place to try and prevent people stealing other people's pictures from their private albums by guessing file names, called 'fusking' as I just learned. See article here Worst part is that this can't be turned off. If you search in Google for something like "photobucket scrambles file name" you will find lot's of people complaining. The fact of the matter is that as long as this scrambling can't be turned off, the signatures will not work at all. ![]() Let's hope there will be a more sensible solution soon, if not I think Photobucket will see a lot of members running for the exit. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by SNURK at Sep 24, 2012 9:42:33 AM] |

Welcome baaaack Snurk
----------------------------------------![]() Edit: Quote from linked article: "CEO Tom Munro ...said: 'The easiest way to protect your content is to scramble the links to your photos and videos. Unless you have a need to preserve your original file names, as some of our users do, we recommend that you select this option to scramble both past and future uploads.'” Another urban myth? ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Actually, at first I thought to have erroneously switched on the scramble feature, as was mentioned in your linked article: http://beforeitsnews.com/science-and-technolo...licit-photos-2452830.html
----------------------------------------“The easiest way to protect your content is to scramble the links to your photos and videos. Unless you have a need to preserve your original file names, as some of our users do, we recommend that you select this option to scramble both past and future uploads.” All new accounts will include scrambling as the default setting, he said. What it looks like, they blew it, and suffixed this code to all, or some code to all posted images. Direct linking publication broken, 100%, where they themselves are so emphatic to underline that the names cannot be changed or you'd break external direct links. Since they claim fusking is only sporadic, they would not be doing anything about it, since the user has the choice to scramble individually, moreover, this is starting to look like major xxx, as there the possibility to set up folders withing folders that are passworded... how could that be accessible? There's hundreds of bit.ly links that were broken for me, names that are, once assigned, can never be reused again. These names are so easy to remember, that I never post the long links anymore. If there's no sensible solution soon... [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 24, 2012 10:08:03 AM] |

Hi SNURK! If there will be no solution within the bucket, I can offer you the possibility to upload the gif's and the signature ranking to a server on high speed lines in A'dam or Ede. Photobucket wasn't expensive and this will not be expensive too. Let me know, if you are interested and we will find a way to keep in touch with my son in law that's offering that server space/bandwidth. CP |

Welcome back SNURK.
----------------------------------------![]() Crystal Pellet's helpful offer aside, maybe it's time to consider, again, WCG (or IBM) hosting the sigs (and SekeRob charts)? |

I have a web-server that I'm not really doing anything with, and Im also hosting images for 2 other people that do things like this, so if you want, I can give you a free place to host.
