Many of my friends would join WCG if they knew--WHO & WHERE you were based???
Look at the Folding@Home's front page...they are TOTALLY upfront who they are. They don't go on about all the partners they have & fail to disclose who they are or where they are based? I had to look up whois-ip to find WCG is based in Canada somewhere??? Why did I have to do that? Come on guys, please be more open & upfront on your front webpage...just like when people buy things online they like to see a mail address/phone no. etc. Come on out of hiding...it'll bolster the site no end I promise. I continue to keep up my own hard work. Shane |

How "Up Front" do you want the "ABOUT US" button to be? Go http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/viewAboutUs.do and trust it satisfies all your friends, which we hope are hundreds. Room enough for everyone to join.

I've read this page, but there is still no big reveal???
A more fuller potted history of how WCG started would be dandy...was it indeed started in Canada? Does it still do business there? If so, where? State your address on the site so newbies can feel a little more comfortable as to what they are contributing to...without it I feel I could be contributing to a global spam bot network for all I know??? (though I know I'm not *JOKE!*) Shane (newbie with only one bronze badge to his name). |

To Shane Austen, every grid has chosen their own way in public relations. I think GPUGrid has the most open custom of informing (and also the best IMHO), see their "about us".
----------------------------------------But like stated above, IBM relies much upon their brand and reputation. and welcome to forum btw!

OK, the ignorance is clearing :) UD merged with Univa in 2007 to form Univa UD.
IBM uses Univa UD technology to power their World Community Grid (WCG): http://www.univaud.com/partners/enterprise/ibm.php Since WCG's inception, there have been a few change of hands at the helm, so hopefully this clears it all up in my mind now. Shane |
