Microsoft team? -- running WCG at Microsoft

Hello,

I have seen several Microsoft teams, and would like to have my work computers on WCG. I don't want to ask the wrong person and be told no. Can someone from Microsoft let me know if it's all right to run these on company machines on the company network? If I have to get approval, from whom and where?

Thanks!

Re: Microsoft team? -- running WCG at Microsoft

How do I contact someone on those teams? I can't find any contact info. I'm trying to reach someone working at Microsoft to find out how to get running WCG on company machines approved.

Thanks,
Derek

Re: Microsoft team? -- running WCG at Microsoft

If you are wanting to install this software on your computer that is a company machine. It is generally acceptable to ask your manager first. If they do not know the answer, then have them point you in the correct direction. If they question the software, you can let them know that it is open source software and is installed on many IBM machines and is currently being sent with the default build on Sony VAIO machines which are sold to the public.

Since I do not work for your company, I can not say an approval from your manager is enough, but in some companies it is.

Re: Microsoft team? -- running WCG at Microsoft

Generally the answer is ...NO

IT may have approved Boinc; But I really doubt it!!!!! A company owned machine has stringent install parameters do to confidentiality and resource usage; I would say the Microsoft teams you are seeing are privately owned machines massed into groups within departments/ locations
