Re: Problem WU

brink,

I am testing the work unit you are experiencing issues with.

A little information on why the restarting the work unit may have worked. The work units go through a main loop that is non discriminatory. It is based on how the system is set up at the time it starts. Each run through the loop has a chance to hit some difficult calculations because the atoms are too close to each other making it difficult to calculate the energy of the system. Restarting changes up some of the parameters of the loop. This could help the system get around the difficult calculations.

Re: Problem WU

Brink,

The work unit completed properly on my test machine. Please try and let the work unit run. If you think it is taking too long on your machine, please feel free to abort the work unit as the system may have entered a complicated calculation from the checkpoint setup. This can happen but the work unit should still complete.

It did finally finish which is cool. I will have to keep an eye on my systems and if they have a unit that is running too long I will know to reboot it to kick it in the butt. wink

Re: Problem WU

If you don't have "Leave application in memory" you can just suspend the work unit running on that machine, wait about 1 minute, and tell it to resume. (Another work unit may start up while that one is suspended but that is ok, the client scheduler will finish it in time).
