Has anybody looked at maybe starting a fund to buy computing time for the World Community Grid on Amazon or Vmware's cloud? For people who wish to donate to the grid with money instead of their own computing power? If I'm talking crazy please just let me know :)

For machines running 24/7/52 it is more cost effective (much more cost effective) to run them yourself. But, true, why not collect money to buy machines. One certainly finds volunteers to host them.

I think he means from a cloud/server-cluster resource provider; Amazon/Vmware/Kermit ;P
Perhaps even one of IBM's cloud/super computers. |
