Help Conquer Cancer March 2011 Update

Grid members,

The March 2011 update for the Help Conquer Cancer project has been posted. In this update, we announce an increase in the number of HCC work units, discuss the continuing work on modeling protein crystallization changes over time, compare our automatic scoring system to human experts in a real-world test, and share some other news from our lab.

Thank you to all World Community Grid members for your enthusiasm and your donations of compute time. This research would not be possible without you.

Thanks for the update.

Something seems broken in the link, this one a reconstruction: http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~juris/WCG/ Click on March 2011 Update to get to the document.

edit: And the direct link to the pdf file: http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~juris/WCG/UPDATE-MAR2011.pdf

edit 2: And to recalibrate progress, the 140 million results validated for 41414+3151 batches complete out of ~65,000 would put us on nearly 69% progress. This assumes that all batches are of similar size of course. Taking past total results and quorum, there are some 3150 tasks to completed per batch?????

Appreciate the update.

The mention of a HCC 2 certainly sounds interesting...

Yes, thanks for the update - it's certainly interesting knowing what's going on (and also, exciting, that there's mention of possibly a HCC2 - as that really does indicate that the results we keep sending back to you are meaningful and useful)

Re: Help Conquer Cancer March 2011 Update

SekeRob,

Thanks for noticing the link problem. All HCC batches are the same size: 3,072 tasks per batch, except for some very early batches, which contained 4,608 tasks each. We think in terms of batches, but we should have phrased it in terms of tasks. Thanks for the translation!
