Greetings all,
With the updated Windows Version the average runtime of Help Conquer Cancer is below 2 hours. We have decided to change the deadline dates for initial copies of results to 7 days from the previous 10 days. Members will notice this change in about 24 hours. Thanks, -Uplinger |

I know this is related to this topic, but I was wondering with the massive speed up, the project should be finishing a lot quicker and from what I remember this project is slated to be finished next. Can someone give us an estimated finished time frame? 6 months? 9 months?

Obviously HFCC is very close to completion (~97%).
HCC Started back in Nov 07, and is about 69% complete. With the speed increase there is maybe 8 or 9 months left (if there is no more work added). My guess is that this project will continue in some way or other. HCMD is also about 69% complete, but it only started back in May 09 (so it’s less than 2years old but more than 2/3rds complete). If it was not for the HCC speed bump I would say this would be finishing next (unless more work is added), but now I would say HCC is next, but only by a bit. HCMD as-is will take around 10months. FA@H and HPF2 are around 80% complete (if no more work is added) but they started back in Nov 05 and Jun 06 respectively. Perhaps about 12moths for these. CEP2 and C4CW are around 30 to 32% so they should be good for another 18months at least. DDDT2 is around 13% so there is a long way to go there. Many of us are target orientated, so it's good to have some idea of the time frame, even if it is likely to change. |

FA@H and HPF2 are around 80% complete (if no more work is added) but they started back in Nov 05 and Jun 06 respectively. Perhaps about 12moths for these. These 2 projects don't have fixed end dates - probably Sekerob should remove the percentage as this causes confusion. For FAAH, as an example, the project team communicated recently that there is currently no end date planned. The project would finish if they run out of ideas what to do (very unlikely) or run out of budget (unlikely). Regards, Martin ![]() |

I think the percentage complete just indicates the expected end dates for presently scheduled project work, but you are right, it could be misinterpreted and crunchers could as a result be crunching for a FA@H badge instead of a HFCC or HCC badge thinking the FA@H project only has a year left. An indication that the project will be extended with presently unscheduled work would therefore be useful.
----------------------------------------My opinion is that such info should be on a WCG projects overview page and maintained by the techs. I don’t want to have to trawl through hundreds of threads to work out which projects are coming to an end or find out about project outages when I stop picking up tasks. Crunchers not knowing when a project will end until the 30days notice, which does not account for planned changes, makes a mockery of the badge system. How can a newcomer possibly decide what to initially crunch for? Even a one a month update would suffice. Knowing when projects are due to end (or be down) is at least as important as knowing the bandwidth requirements. So I guess,
HCC – 8months (+more work?) HCMD – 10months CEP2 – Over 18months C4CW – Over 18months DDDT2 – Years HPF2 – Many Years FA@H – Many Years [Edit 1 times, last edit by skgiven at Apr 12, 2011 1:44:36 PM] |

skgiven,
Your posts are always a joy to read and the main reason why I pulled the WCGACT chart. Anyone around for longer knows of the WCGPI1 and WCGDSH (Dashboard) charts which are part of the sticky post in the Start Here forum. Purporting you pulled those percentage from the air, rather than referring to source is questionable. Said charts include an est. daily % of progress since a few days. Whilst, the techs have other things to do and EVERYONE knows that work can shrink / extend at a moments notice (HCC extended several times and others are quite open ended) hence they are broad [dynamic] estimates, based on best present information known. --//-- |

Emperor Palpatine returns, with gifts of joy!
I didn't purport to conjure, and I don't consider your graph to be an Overview of Projects Dashboard. There is no Project Dashboard or even a Server Status dashboard. New comers would not be aware of project extensions. At least not until they happened upon such information from within the ever increasing 500K+ threads; so not everyone knows and it would be useful to have such information in a proper dashboard. |
