Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 51 smilesmile

Hi guys.. What I meant was to get to 365 Million this year...or one million points a day average for the year.

I dread my next 3 or 4 electric bills.

Everyone have a great evening. smile

It doesn't take too much heat for my laptop to start acting up. I have had problems with it going into sleep mode while using it and in the middle of the night. I have a Belkin fan I am using most of the time and it seems to resolve the problems.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 51 smilesmile

I just went to Windmillweb.com to see what may have changed. I did find a link to Your Local Computer Guy which may be very useful to me. Of course, Your Local computer Guy appears to be restricted to an area in Texas. I think most of my questions/queries could be handled by email. I have in the past used Best Buy's The Geek Squad to resolve problems and they were not cheap, but I have no complaints with the work they did.

I try to keep the free advice and diagnosis to the local area so that I may someday fix their stuff for a fee. This does not apply to MOT members; I will try to help in any way I can. Use the Contact Us on the website if you want to send me an email as I do not want to post my email address here. I do work pretty cheap and I do not get complaints as I guarantee everything that I charge for. So if MOT members have questions, feel free to email them to me; and I will try to help at no charge. smile .

On your laptop that has heating probems, often that is caused by lint and dust on the heat-sync that the fan blows air over. Use a pen or a paper clip or somthing like that to stick into the fan blades (of course when the computer is off) to keep from over-spinning the fan and then use compressed air (canned or from an air compressor) to blow through the fan both ways...forward and backward through the air-flow path to get rid of the dust/lint. Be careful with the little fans and it is pretty easy to break off a blade or to over-spin them and ruin them (voice of experience).. Replacements are hard to find and they tend to charge 10 to 20 times what they are worth. sad

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 51 smilesmile

Thank you for the information. I have never tried to open the Lenovo T61P ThinkPad and I will have to find information (probably from the Lenovo web site) on how to do this so I don't completely screw things up. I bought the computer used from IBM and I think I remember getting some information with it that might give more detail. I know that I have had poor luck in obtaining information about the externals, but I know the help information on the computer, while brief, can provide information that may be of help.

One other thing, when I have had any of the problems I am talking about (such as being put in sleep mode) they have occurred when the laptop has been getting overly warm and not when running with the Belkin fan for cooling. The problems include the display becoming unreadable until I power down for about fifteen minutes before restarting.
