New Projects?

We are now at six active projects, down from eight. Any new ones coming soon?

Re: New Projects?

Firstly, welcome back Hypernova - I've certainly missed your posts on this forum, been anywhere nice???

Secondly, I'm really hoping for a new project soon - as, it has been mentioned, that WCG are hoping/planning for the launch of 3 new projects/phases this year - yet, we're already half way through it...

Thirdly, the next wave of HFCC should be imminant - although I did read that it'd been pushed back into July.

Fourthly, the DDDT2 drought has lead to the introduction of hose-pipe bans, as the lack of water is so severe... A little while ago, there was a very long range forcast of rain, although unfortunately, no water has yet fallen from the skies...

It does appear though, that the techs are even busier than normal behind the scenes (I don't know if they've still got the same number of staff or not - in these tough times, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they hadn't...).

Re: New Projects?

Hi Hypernova, long time no hear! Able to keep the crunching bunker cool?

HFCC returning early July by latest word of Seippel.... silence on DDDT2 work... none on horizon. It's heads down in the boiler room... knreed wrote of 3 major ''changes'' that have to be belted out before they can start on working the CEP2 changes to the app [run time and such like], so cryptic interpretation is that these relate to the projects that were announced some time ago.

Re: New Projects?

Hypernova, I noted that you were still chipping in with one rig, even if your posts dropped off.

DDDT2 is in one of its more quiet phases, but will inevitably make a reappearance now and again. Hopefully you grab a few next time - you seem to miss these rare events.

As posted above HFCC is due to startup again sometime in July. Who knows but this might suggest that some of the planned work could be completed by then, moving WCG one step closer to seeing other projects.

The HCC Project is due to end in a few months as well, which would again reduce the active project count. Hopefully by then there would be at least one more, but if not perhaps shortly afterwards. Ditto for HFCC.

Anyway, there are plenty of tasks to go around for a long time yet smile

Good luck,

Re: New Projects?

Hi again Hypernova,

Was reading in another thread you indeed have CB cooling issues. Try out TThrottle if you like, to set a controlled crunching temp ceiling. No matter how warm it gets, the tool will back-off BOINC smoothly so things don't fry.

Re: New Projects?

Welcome back Hypernova,

You probably haven't been reading all of the varies threads, so I figure I would let you know that HCC will be finishing up in 3-4 months and Sekerob mention that HCMD2 will be finishing up soon too (end of the yr or early 2012). So if you need to reach some goal on those project, you will need to jump start your mahcines again.

Re: New Projects?

Sek you are right. I have not solved the infernal heat and noise issues. To avoid family "conflicts" my bunker must be close shut when running. You can imagine due to the small crammed space that unfortunately even throttle control is far from enough. The only solution is a powerful ventilation system through the only available aperture to the outside, to extract hot air and suck in cooler air from exterior. Due to many other obligations, activities and priorities I have frankly had no time to handle this cooling project. It stays on the back of my had though. Patience, patience....the day will come wink

Re: New Projects?

I tried the ttrotle app - however, both my Icore7 machine and my netbook locked up several times and had to be hard booted to clear... i removed the app after only about 18 hrs installed - I agree though the app worked well (except for the lockups)
