Sighhhh ....
When will it ever end ![]() - carpetbaggers seeking to bilk seriously ill people out of their money - it makes me furious no end ![]() No, fablefox (Hi!), when the real thing comes, it will be introduced with a totally different typesetting and in more reputable media than this boilerroom website - in the meantime, it would be nice if people didn't try to feather their own nests this way ... |

There maybe a little truth in what the website says but their claims of 80%+ can't be backed up.

Well, my maths makes their reference 2% Chemo success rate 10%, and in some cases as much as 40%.
There are many different types of Cancer and Chemo is not the No1 choice for all. It's the way you tell 'em. That said, the researchers were published in Nature and ACS so there definitely is something in this. My guess is that they have found something key, but this does not mean that apoptosis is the best route to a cure for any Cancer type. Take a deep breath, there is no magic bullet, not even a vinegar analogue. |

Maybe I was at fault by putting that link, but it does ask an interesting question, and also provide links?
----------------------------------------Based on the linked wiki (thanks the moonsecresent), the same points are mentioned. "A study in mice at the University of Alberta showed that "DCA induces apoptosis, decreases proliferation, and inhibits tumor growth, without apparent toxicity."[4] In 2010, a small human trial on 5 cancer patients and 49 samples of tissue was conducted.[5] The results were encouraging and DCA "appeared to extend the lives of four of the five study participants".[6]" Among others. And in the same wiki, also mentioend: "DCA is non-patentable as a compound, though a patent has been filed for its use in cancer treatment.[27] Research by Evangelos Michelakis has received no support from the pharmaceutical industry. Concerns have been raised that without strong intellectual property protection, the financial incentive for drug development is reduced, and therefore clinical trials of DCA may not be funded.[17][18][19][28] However, other sources of funding exist; previous studies of DCA have been funded by government organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and by private charities (e.g. the Muscular Dystrophy Association). Recognizing anticipated funding challenges, Michelakis's lab took the unorthodox step of directly soliciting online donations to fund the research.[29] After 6 months, his lab had raised over $800,000, enough to fund a small Clinical Phase 2 study. Michelakis and Archer have applied for a patent on the use of DCA in the treatment of cancer.[30][31]" In other word, although my link does have a strange domain name, it does raise the same point the wiki raise, except the wiki have even more links to follow and read. My point is, it is sad to know that a compound is available, but due to it's non-patentable nature, companies are not willing to fund it, to a point donation is asked online. which is sad, and interesting, since cancer is bringing profit / costing of trillions yearly. And the online donation can only raise $800,000 in six month. (double to make a year, that would equal $1.6. million). For a disease that is costing so much, I expect much more funding to be available than that. Thanks! |

"New" Amazing Cancer cures turn up all the time
----------------------------------------These just instil false hope in the breast of cancer sufferers. Discovered , means its just emerged in a lab. Before the medical profession let it lose on its patients months of trials take place with control groups using Placebo or alternate medicaments. The aim of Cancer teams is to deal safely & effectively with the illness , There are over 200 different types of cancer, the human body is unique to the individual treatment tailor-made to that person we are not a car that can have a new part fitted the treatment has to be fit for purpose. ![]() Years of Research has been in progress no definitive cure has been found but we dont stop looking Improved early detection is a key as is possible knowledge of causes Prevention being better than cure .... Since my brush with the beast six years ago the operation I had has changed from a major Operation to robotic keyhole with quicker recovery times The clipping from an American newspaper circa 1945 shows the advances in Radio therapy and the small amount of radium in the entire country is amazing Diet is maybe a thing to watch, trouble is nothing provable only looking at the western Europe diet against the diet in eastern countries who has which sort of Cancer ???? Go look see and make your own mind up . Just treat information with a questioning eye dont go all out eating Mung beans or what ever every thing in moderation. Eating too many Carrots doesnt make you able to see in the dark or breed like Rabbits it just turns you yellow ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by densnaps at Jul 17, 2011 9:08:00 AM] |
