Beta Testing program information.

I just discovered Sekerob's very useful FAQ. It answers many questions that have been asked by members so I recommend that people take a look.

@Sekerob, the link in the FAQ to BetaProgram.png is broken.

Re: Beta Testing program information.

OK, I'll fix it.. parked in me "Read It Later" [again] list. Will then review it for possible tweaks/additions to the Dec.18,2010 last updated version... maybe a table of Switch App times, best suited to individual needs [behavior has changed a little with various client versions, latest appear to be running closer to the edge]. Anyone care to draw up one for addition to the last paragraph, that also integrates the elected cache size?

Thanks

edit: Quick check, the image loads fine here, full address:

Sometimes PhotoBucket or the redirectors I'm using, tinyurl or bit.ly go off-line for a little, causing the fetch to fail. The redirectors allow naming of the images, to easily remember and then repost to discussions.

Re: Beta Testing program information.

There you go... anyone in need of quick Beta program access, type in address bar, then Carriage return [yes I learned 10 finger typing on those]:

bit.ly/BTAPRG

or

bit.ly/WCGBTP

Helps me too, to keep stats on image views biggrin

Re: Beta Testing program information.

After reading your response, it occured to me that I was causing the link to the PNG to break by answering YES to IE's Security Warning

Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?
This webpage contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS connection...'

My mistake. Sorry blushing

Re: Beta Testing program information.

They could have asked, Do you only want to view secure content.
But that would not be complicated enough to confuse people.

This use to be, "This page contains both secure and nonsecure items. Do you want to display the nonsecure items?"
To continue you would have chosen Yes.

Re: Beta Testing program information.

I totally agree. ...and what is even more annoying is that the answer is not remembered by the program.

Come to think of it, I have just realised that this forum is https. After so many years, it's amazing what can be overlooked. wink

Re: Beta Testing program information.

During sign-in, one is switched to the My Grid, which is https, but when returning to the forums it used to switch back to http. Often it's not doing that.

IE7-8-9 can be made to remember the decision, somewhere in the securities settings and AFAICR, even at website level: Options > Security tab > Trusted > Websites button.

Edit: Yup, made this post, signed out, came back to this thread, hit reply, which opened the sign-in box, logged in which opened the reply box in https, paged back, and now this edit is done from the http:/www address. Not exactly a regular navigation order for sure.

Re: Beta Testing program information.

Weirder and weirder. I came here and read your last reply. The URL for this page is http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,31490

I then went to my original post and see that the FAQ link points to https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,25761 confused

I'll take a look at website security settings . Thanks for the headsup.

I tried to replicate your log out-sign in test in Firefox 5 but every time I come back to the Reply page, I am in https. I did the same in IE8 and can confirm that by paging back, I move from https to http. thinking

Re: Beta Testing program information.

Another reason to use Firefox 5 instead if IE8.
