Re: New Beta starting Aug 5, 2011

It's (kinda) the AMD that is causing invalids. If a result is sent out on Linux, the wingman will be Linux as well. ...

Intersting, thank you! Looks like my AMD's will not be participating in the new sub-project crying

Re: New Beta starting Aug 5, 2011

I have the same fears as you. However, it is possible for the scientists to change the validation parameters or the techs to change the distribution to match CPU types. That's what the Beta process is for; to get all these kinks worked out.

"This causes the two Intel results to match up and the AMD result goes invalid. If the third happens to go to an AMD, the Intel result will invalidate."
Would the techs comment on this?

Re: New Beta starting Aug 5, 2011

Thanks again to all of the beta testers. We are currently testing a fix for the issues being seen on Win XP where the application does not respond to the suspend/resume message as well as cpu% request. We are also looking into the AMD vs. Intel invalid issue.

Thanks,
armstrdj

Interesting, I wonder if this is what happened to me. The Beta WU was from an older run though.

BETA_BETA_ace_0000000_0421
Minimum Quorum: 2
Replication: 3

BETA_ BETA_ ace_ 0000000_ 0421_ 2-- 611 Valid 7/23/11 11:33:46 7/23/11 15:48:23 3.80 68.5 / 58.3
BETA_ BETA_ ace_ 0000000_ 0421_ 1-- 611 Invalid 7/22/11 22:44:34 7/23/11 04:57:06 2.86 61.1 / 58.3 <-- Me
BETA_ BETA_ ace_ 0000000_ 0421_ 0-- 611 Valid 7/22/11 22:44:09 7/23/11 11:32:52 3.52 48.2 / 58.3

Nothing noticeable as to why mine is "Invalid".
Mine processed about an hour quicker. Device is Linux x64, Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5300, 4 GB DDR2 RAM, not O/C, has been a good cruncher.

Re: New Beta starting Aug 5, 2011

To all,

Remember how long it took before CEP2 went live on Windows and how long the Beta ran on Linux? Let's give the programmers time to do it right, so launch can be done in good confidence. If there is a matching issue due CPU brand differentials it will be handled in the best fitting manner.

cheers

It's not hard to be patient when the same issues that require patience also cause more beta testing ! biggrin

Just a quick head's up, the no reply resends will be issuing within the next few hours. I still have 3 of 16 results in PV jail myself.
